We are told (from soundbites to social media to seasonal movies or songs) that the holidays between Hanukkah and New Years are meant to be filled with joy. With all the many times we have heard it (either literally or in the many subtle messages that abound during this season), the bar can be set very high with expectations and more.
During times when perhaps the pressure mounts, it can be very helpful to focus on meditative quotes such as this. Doing so melts the weight of the anticipation. No more “forced fun,” but rather a shift toward gratitude and embracing the moments that surround. By breathing in this quote by Mark Nepo (a spiritual teacher who has been interviewed by Oprah on Super Soul Sunday), we can invite in both pleasure and joy.
