It is being in the here-and-now and accepting it just as it is, without judgment.\u00a0 When we are\u00a0being mindful, we are focused on what is actually unfolding right in front of us. It is not thinking about the past or ruminating about the future\u2026.it is truly \u2018being\u00a0in the moment\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meditation is a <em>practice<\/em> or a <em>way<\/em> to facilitate more mindfulness in one\u2019s life.\u00a0 When one practices meditation, the focus is on\u00a0just one thing&#8211;say, the breath. When practicing meditation, the attention of the mind is brought back to the breath\u00a0over and over and over.\u00a0 With time, this practice of single-focused attention, transfers into other areas of our lives. We train our mind to be still and focused, we train our mind to be present with the person right in front of us, or the situation at hand.\u00a0 With a regular meditation practice, one discovers the amount of distracting they were doing before and how much they really crave to focus on their life\u2026in real time.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore Meditation fosters greater Mindfulness. \u00a0And greater Mindfulness leads to an increased experience of joy and overall happiness.<\/p>\n<p>Wow&#8211;all I need is my breath and my mind??\u00a0 Yep\u2026it&#8217;s free and its always with you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They both start with \u2018M\u2019, and they both involve breathing, right?\u00a0 As a coach, I like to clarify and help people get clear on things\u2026\u00a0so let\u2019s define both now.
